Objectives of Presentation
The paper aims to:
Highlight the link between transportation and CO₂ emissions, showing how private vehicle dependency contributes to climate change.
Evaluate various public rapid transit systems (such as bus transit, LRT, metro, and BRT) in terms of efficiency, capacity, and sustainability.
Advocate for modal shift—encouraging the public to move from private car usage to public transport to achieve significant CO₂ reductions.
Promote transit-oriented development (TOD) as a strategy to integrate land use with efficient public transit and reduce travel distances.
Encourage realistic transport pricing policies that internalise environmental costs and support fair competition between transport modes.
