Engineer (Public Health)

Job Description:

1. General

• Handle typical and small sized projects comprising the design of Sewerage system , Water Pumping Station, Drainage Pumping System, and all infrastructure related pump station as assigned by GM of Division with guidance by superior
• Lead a few engineers and other staff in undertaking multi-disciplinary small sized project with guidance by superior
• Perform all necessary duties from the preliminary/conceptual design stage until project completion as listed in the following sections with guidance by superior
• Assist superior on bigger sized projects

2. Design and Drawing Preparation

• Prepare feasibility study, design brief, and schematic design.
• Prepare sketch drawings with sufficient details to enable draftsperson to produce satisfactory detailed drawings as required for tender, construction or other purposes;
• Undertake mechanical system detailed design and prepare specifications, bill of quantities and schedules
• Prepare design calculations in accordance with all relevant codes and standards

3. Tender Document and Tender Evaluation

• Prepare Tender Document comprising specifications, bill of quantities and schedules etc
• Prepare Tender Evaluation Report with recommendation to Client on acceptance of tender

4. Contract Administration

• Contract administration including review and comment on the contractor’s submission of method statements, materials, equipment, inspection, testing procedures and test results.
• Prepare Progress Payment Certificates
• Address Variations and resolve contractual disputes with guidance by superior

5. Business Development

• Build and maintain good relationship with Client
• Assist in preparing consultancy Expression of Interest and Consultancy Proposal
• Assist superior in carrying out sales and marketing to secure project

6. Management and Administration

• Assist in management and administration functions within division as directed
• Assist in management and administration activities within company as directed
• Assist in improving efficiency of Division as directed

7. Training and Self-Development

• Review Subordinates’ and peers’ output and provide guidance to Subordinates
• Act as mentor to Subordinates
• Conduct on-the-job training for subordinates

8. Others

• Prepare cost estimates
• Attend meetings and coordinate with all other internal and external design team members
• Liaise with relevant Authorities for submission and approval of all drawings and documents
• Carry out site supervision as necessary to ensure works are installed in accordance with contract documentation and good engineering practice
• Involve in company’s activities including corporate social responsibility activities.
• Carry out all tasks related to Minconsult’s operation as directed

Requirements

• Degree in CIVIL l Engineering recognized by Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM)
• Registered with BEM as a Graduate Engineer
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a consultancy environment
• Experience in  AutoCAD, REVIT and Navisworks will be an added advantage
• Able to handle typical and small sized projects comprising the design of Sewerage system , Water Pumping Station, Drainage Pumping System, and all infrastructure related works as assigned by GM of Division with guidance by superior
• Able to lead a few engineers and other staff in undertaking small sized multi-disciplinary project with minimal guidance
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet timelines.
• Good inter-personal skills. A good team player
• Good command of written and spoken English. Able to write and speak Bahasa Malaysia
• Proficiency in Mandarin as an added advantage
