GIS Executive

Job Description:

• Integrate and overlay various geographical datasets and metadata from different formats and sources into unified maps, ensuring consistency in scale and functionality. This facilitates comprehensive data analysis and interpretation.
• Perform desk-based data digitization to convert physical maps into GIS datasets, such as recording the location of telecom cables or water pipelines from original maps.
• Develop and maintain robust structures for GIS data storage, ensuring secure and organized access.
• Convert GIS data between formats and conduct analysis using specialized tools, enabling the discovery of patterns and trends, such as estimating future school capacity based on population growth and planning data.
• Collect and manage physical and numerical data using equipment such as GPS receivers, and convert this data into digitized datasets for advanced analysis.
• Support engineers or planners in the preparation of technical drawings, including coordinate setup and data format conversion.
• Provide necessary GIS-related information for input into project planning and BD systems.
• Assist in the preparation of tenders and proposals to support project acquisition.
• Conduct on-the-job training for colleagues and team members on GIS software procedures to ensure timely project delivery.
• Stay informed of advancements in GIS methodologies, workflows, and technologies to enhance processes and outcomes.
• Attend project meetings and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination.

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Geographical Information Science, or a Bachelor’s degree in Geoinformatics, Surveying Science, or a related field from a recognized university in Malaysia.
• Professional registration with the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) or the Institution of Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM).
• Proficiency in GIS software such as MapInfo, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, QGIS, and Microsoft Excel and Word.
