Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (SMSB) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has been entrusted by the Sarawak Government to transform the public road transport system in major urban areas.

Under the Sarawak Socio-Economic Transformation Plan 2016 – 2030, one key element in this plan involves urban redevelopment for efficient and integrated urban public transportation system.

Henceforth, Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) is envisioned to serve as the backbone of public transport system of Greater Kuching spurring greater productivity and catalyst to economic opportunities along its routes.

Phase 1 of the KUTS will involve Blue Line (27km – Rembus to Hikmah Exchange); Red Line (12km – Kuching Sentral to Pending); and Green Line (31km – Pending to Damai); which including hydrogen fuelled, rubber tyre vehicles.

As for BIM Deliverables, per the contract requirement, Minconsult is to achieve LOD 200.
